Our Story

As a personal trainer, Rich has been helping people live healthier lifestyles and improve their health and fitness for nearly ten years. Following the loss of a close friend and mentor to suicide in 2018, he realised just how severe the mental health crisis in the UK was and how little support there was for people in the workplace.

Upon starting his research into this area, he quickly saw the negative impact the resultant presenteeism, absenteeism and loss of productivity was having on companies, creating a vicious cycle that was playing out in real time, affecting real lives. Something had to change. Fast.

And so, in 2019, Employees Health was born.

My name is Richard Turner, I am the director of Employees Health, a workplace health, wellbeing and coaching company.

I hold a BSc in sports science and coaching and am also a qualified personal trainer, sports massage therapist, and high-performance executive coach.

For nearly 10 years, I have been helping people improve their health, fitness and wellbeing. Throughout this journey, I have also had a real passion for psychology and the psychology of the highest performers both in business and in sport. This has led me to qualify as a high-performance executive coach so that I can help give business men and women focus, motivation, energy, productivity whilst helping them improve their health and wellbeing, reduce burnout, and perform at their best both in and out of work.

Because of my background in physical health, I am a firm believer that, in order to create high performance, individuals need to have a solid foundation of positive health and wellbeing behaviours in place. This foundation will help them boost energy, fight off burnout, and give them the best mindset to achieve their aspirations.

Sally is a Mental Health First Aid Instructor and she began her journey into the mental wellbeing space in 2017. With a background in HR, Sally’s interest in this area stemmed from two core places. Firstly, her work in HR brought her into contact with many people, including those experiencing mental health issues at work. She was often part of the support network in the workplace for employees, and her responsibilities included working with line managers, occupational health and other healthcare providers in supporting people at work or returning people back to work, after a period of sick leave, appropriately and safely.

The second area where her interest stems from is her own experience of mental illness. Sally is quite open in speaking about her experience of severe depression and anxiety, diagnosed in 2016. Needless to say this was an extremely challenging time and when she came out the other side of her recovery, she wanted to do more to raise awareness about mental health issues and really encourage conversations around it.

The opportunity to become an MHFA instructor came along in 2017 and she jumped at the chance. Since then she has delivered numerous courses, both publicly and privately, across a broad range of sectors including financial services, construction, communication, entertainment and insurance industries. Initially, Sally was doing this on top of her full time HR role however since then has taken the plunge to deliver MHFA courses and bespoke webinars and workshops full time. As she describes ‘mental health awareness is her thing’
