Mental Health First Aid

The face-to-face Mental Health First Aider course is a full two day programme, delivered through a mix of slides and various learning activities including quizzes, group work, videos, case studies and reflective activities. The two days can be back to back or spread out one week apart (eg Monday and Monday). The online version is delivered through a mix of individual online learning and four tutor led live sessions. The live sessions can be delivered flexibly over a few days or a couple of weeks, whatever your preference.

 

The learning outcomes for both the face-to-face and online versions are the same, where Mental Health First Aiders have:

An in depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing

Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues

Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress

Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening

Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix

 

Attendee numbers are recommended at a minimum of 6 and maximum of 16 per group and each will receive:

A Mental Health First Aider certificate upon completion of the course

Comprehensive course materials that includes a manual, workbook and quick reference guide of the Mental Health First Aid action plan

Mental Health First Aid Course

Mental Health Aware

The Mental Health Aware Course is a four-hour introductory course that is designed to raise mental health awareness. It is delivered through a mix of presentations, group discussions, activities and videos.

Upon completion delegates will have:

An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma

A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues

An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing

Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue

Attendee numbers are recommended at a minimum of 6 and maximum of 25 per group and each will receive:

A Mental Health Aware certificate upon completion of the course

Comprehensive course materials that includes a manual and workbook

Mental Health Champion

The face-to face Mental Health First Aid Champion course is a full one day programme, delivered through a mix of presentations and various learning activities including group work, case studies and reflective activities.

Mental Health First Aid Champions have:

An understanding of common mental health issues

Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness

Ability to spot signs of mental ill health

Skills to support positive wellbeing

Attendee numbers are recommended at a minimum of 6 and maximum of 16 per group and each will receive:

A Mental Health First Aid Champion certificate upon completion of the course
